I mentioned last night that our train arrived late picking us up. Well it appeared over night that the train got even more delayed somehow, although it was nice getting woken up at like 7 by the guard when I was expecting a 6.30am arrival. This was also my first good nights sleep on the train. I think you've just got to overcome the psychological thoughts that you're going to fall off the top bunk!
Due the fact we were late I am guessing we couldn't get into the station because we kept stopping, and then moving a few meters and stopping again. People were literally walking off the train at this point onto the railway line instead of waiting. We finally arrived just after 9, and we soon said goodbye to Jess, Jen and Michelle who had a hotel on at Sukhumvit on the metro. My hotel was on Khao San Road again, which has no public transport other than taxi and tuk tuk, and buses if you can work out how they work, I can't!
After a short stop of Bangkok Centre Hotel where the whole tour started, it was goodbye to our CEO, Su who has been absolutely amazing to us. I am going to miss asking someone all those questions, and also having more or less everything planned for me! It was also goodbye to Sean and Syenna who were off to the airport.
So then there were 3, and we went for breakfast where I had scrambled eggs on toast with bacon. This dish seems to be always be the most British breakfast in Thailand. It was then time to say goodbye to Leanne and Vera, which put back to being all on my own again. After a hot walk to Khao San Road, I had a look at my hotel, although I couldn't check in for a couple of hours. My hotel was right next to the local travel agency which meant I had Thai locals selling me stuff, and I was next to a taxi rank which made my privacy even more limited!
To kill time I went to the free internet cafe across the road and used the free pool table just to relax a bit. I then went across to the hotel early to check in, with success, although I had to choose between a double room without air con, or a twin room with air con. In Thailand air con always has to win! My room was really posh as well, and despite appearing to have concrete walls, was finished in a way which felt like luxury.
It was then back to the internet cafe to try and plan my next move. Like usual I was panicking about flights and everything! To ease my worries I went for a walk past the grand palace and local markets, before following the river back to the hotel. In this time I had another Pad Thai with spring rolls for lunch, probably my favourite dish of Thailand. To be honest I didn't want to do anything major until my flight as I was tired and worrying about everything.
I therefore spent the evening weighing up my options for Australia, having a rice and spring rolls for dinner in the process, before having another early night ready for the flight to Oz tomorrow.
